Positive thinking

Is there power in positive thinking?

 Having a positive mind usually leads people to make positive choices in life, but is there power in positive thinking? Positive thinking could have power in some cases, for example being a positive person and always thinking about your future and education could lead you to do better in school and try more than what a person and who thinks that school is just a waste of time and who is always thinking negative about it.  Also when talking about health positive thinking could also have some power, according to many studies positive people attempt to make healthier choices in their life we could be talking about eating healthier food or exercise a negative person has lower chances of having the energy to go out for a walk or to try to exercise their self.

Happiness and Health

People these days want to have the best bodies and a happy life at the same time. Two essential things in everyone’s life, but how to be happy and also be healthier. Studies have proven that happy people attempt to have healthier hearts and cardiovascular systems which could help people stay healthier and have lower chances to develop certain kind of diseases or even help fight them. Having a positive happy mood can lead to do other positive things like exercising your self, a person with low mood steam is less probable to do other things.

 Being an unhappy person for whatever reason will only cause more negative things. People with a lots of problems in their lives attempt to become lonely which will lead to sadness and then without even noticing can causes real bad mental disorders like depression. Depression is a mental disorder that can cause significant physical and emotional symptoms when left untreated. A person depress and sad life will not be healthy, but there are some ways to fight this kind of disorders. Some people use certain kinds of medications and others use other things, more natural things like “laughter yoga”. Laughter yoga started by Kataria who believes that “ true mirthful laughter can have a liberating, transformative effect, one that momentarily erases all practical concerns, fears, needs, and even notions of time, and provides a glimpse into spiritual enlightenments”(81). And she also affirms that “ yoga is based upon the scientific fact that, even if you laugh for the sake of laughing, even if you are pretend laughing, your body cannot tell the difference”(80) even if you are just faking that you are laughing the process will be the same more air will exhale than inhale which is a good way to help your body and mind release all those negative things and put them aside while your enjoying your time laughing.

Eating healthy and exercising your body. Playing a sport that you like and enjoy playing will not only make you but it will also help your body to stay and shape and have a good health.

Grateful

  I am grateful for many things but there are some that I really am grateful for. First of my mother she been my mother and father even though she never understands me she always been there for me even when I messed up bad. I am grateful for being in New York City right now a big city with a lot of opportunities. I am grateful for having a house or apartment where I can sleep every night and also eat. I am grateful for being in college right now, having a chance to improve my life I need to put more effort in it. I am grateful for having a job, being able to buy myself what I want. And last but not least I am grateful for having a bed where I’m laying down right now and about to fall as sleep.

Relationships can make some people happy, depending on the kind of relationship we are talking about. It could be a relationship with your friends, parents or partner. In this paper I will discuss the impact of technology on relationships and how is affecting our life now days. Many people is now using the internet and social networks to meet new people or to find new dates. It works for some people but not for everyone, some people ends up very disappointed. It is not as easy as it sounds the outcomes are not always good.

Technology is everywhere now days, people is taking advantage of this to create social networks for people who are interested in meeting new people.  Using the internet to find dates and meeting new people is now becoming more interesting for some people rather than going out with others to meet new people. It is not a bad idea, but you can’t always be sure that the person that you meet online will be the same when you meet in person.A lot of couples met started talking in the internet and are now together. But here are also others out there with other intentions than just finding a date. Using social networks such as “facebook” or “myspace” have many users that are not real, they could be fake or even worst predators looking for teens and abuse them. As you can see using such thing to meet new people could have good outcomes but also bad ones too.

Most people has the idea of finding that perfect other half that would match them and will make them happy. That is the idea of using social networks but haven't you wonder how often that occurs?

Happiness and work (blog 4)

   Happiness and work. Two things that seems hard to match. But before you decide your career or where do you want to work until you retired one day, you have make sure you are really be happy with what you do. Unless of course you want to get up every morning and complain about going to work. Many people chose a career where they are going to make a lot of money but yeah they end up not enjoy what they do for leaving, yeah you get the money but what about you. Everyone wants to be happy, but making a lot of money working at a place where you wish you weren’t at is not going to help.
  I personally know already what i want to do for leaving and is not doing hard work, I’m a lazy type person, I’ll rather just sit in a chair and work instead of being under the sun doing construction or at a fast food restaurant. Now it is up to you to follow yourself and make yourself happy doing things that you enjoy doing, and your life will also be better.

Happiness in Educaton (blog 3)

How to be or become happy with education? The only way people will be happy with education is if they learn the way they like, and learn the most. Everyone has a different way in which they learn more and the most depending on your personality and the things that you like to do. But this is about how I would be happier in education and how to match it to who I am. I will happier if teachers taught the way that I learn the most and that's less reading for homework and more reading in class. I'm not the reader type of person I do read but I only get into it if the subject is interesting and sometimes reading homework can be really bored. How could I make my self read something that doesn’t call my attention at all? Maybe if I try to pay more attention in class the subject will become more interesting. But there are some things that the professors need to understand not everyone loves to write and read, they should try to assign other kind of assignments also.
  
First of all I need to find out the things I like the most and how my personality will match a perfect education. Do I like to seat there in a chair for over an hour and just listen to the profession. I can do it and I don’t mind it but the professor has to make it interesting so that students wont get bored seating there. Class needs to be fun sometimes, lets students move around and talk could help them to learn in an easier and fun way. A class activity is a real plus. Let students interact with each others and shared their own ideas about a reading or something. Group work is a better way of learning than individual works they shared ideas and comments between each other something that you don’t do when you work by yourself you get stock with ideas that you are not so sure about. Socializing with other students could make this happen but you can’t just do it if your professor doesn’t let you work in groups or assign group assignments.
  
I should start making my own goals, in a short run and a long run. Making my own personal goals and connecting them with school and achieving them will keep me motivated to keep going. It is not easy at all but if you make the right choices in life and don’t ever give up there will be nothing that you can’t do or achieve. Goals for every class which will be pass every class. If I start challenging myself to achieve goals will make help to make education more interesting in a way. Balancing my flow which Csikszentmihalyi describes as “a state in which one is immersed in an experience that is rewarding in  and itself, a state which we feel we one with the experience, in which action and awareness are merged”. Sounds like a thing I can do but only when I’m doing things that I like to do, time goes by quick and it only feels like minutes. Having a mix of anxiety and boredom experiences to keep my flow balance and also learn how to manage my time better. I’m that kind of person that most of time waits till the last minutes to do my tasks, depending on what it is like homework most of the time I wait till the last minute to do it. I don’t see it helping me at all, maybe if I start diving my week into days, and hours. Have some specific days to do homework and study. I see that doing homework at the last minute it only irritates me more about school sometimes instead of helping me. But I also need the time which I will spend doing the things that I like, maybe if I try to study while listening to music helps me, I tried it before but I got too into the music and I completely forgot about studying.
  
It seems like the only way I could be happier with education is by making it the way I like to learn, but I don’t see that happening. Maybe I got to get use the way teachers teach but they all teach in a different way. Or changing my ways of learning which don’t sound like an easy thing to do.  Performing my best in an English class will be to pay attention to the teacher and take notes of every important thing. But before this I have to be ready for a 2 hours class where is all going to be about reading and writing, things that I dislike a lot. Next time maybe I should chose a shorter class, but it will be the same because I will have to meet more with the class during the week. Meditation before class could help, it took away my headache the other day, but I still wasn’t so focus in class. I need to start focusing more in class, and stop thinking about other things that don’t have to do with the class but sometimes you just can’t stop thinking about your personal problems.
  
Therefore it shouldn’t be so hard to match my education to who I am and the ways I like to learn and learn the mist but it seems like it will most likely be up to the teacher and the way that they teach. It is up to them to decide the kind of work that will be given in class and the way they teach class to make it more interesting to students and not let them fell to sleep in class and keep them motivated. School won’t always be fun, there are times that you will have to take it serious and see that your future depends on the education that you have. Now it is up to you to match your personality the things that you like to do with your education, make sure that whatever you decide to do with your life is what you like to do.

Also watching videos is pretty interesting but I mean interesting videos not old school bored videos. Sometimes a lot of reading is assigned and it could be too much for homework, it will make me happier if instead of having to read all that by yourself will be better if some reading is also do in class this will be a good time to talk about the reading and shared some ideas so that the reading wont be too hard to understand. Making my own personal goals and connecting them with school and achieving them will keep me motivated to keep going. Even thought I already have some important reasons to finish college and graduated with a degree. Coming from a low class family is not easy at all but if you make the right choices in life and dont ever give up there will be nothing that you cant do or achieve.

Therefore it wont be so hard to match my education to who i am it will most likely be up to the teacher and the way that they teach. I dont have anything against school to me a great choice out there for everybody is never to late, unless your already real old. But education is out there for you to offer you a new way of life something that will make you and family happier. It can not always be fun but if you match the way you are and a way of learning that will fit you wont be as bored as you think anymore.

Synthetic & Natural Happiness (blog 1)

Many people around the world believe that getting all the things in the world or having everything they ever wanted will make them the happiest people in the world. There are two different kinds of happiness according to Daniel Gilbert a Synthetic happiness and a Natural Happiness. I’ve experience both of these kinds of happiness in life and I never knew that differences until now. Getting everything you want when want it is natural happiness and getting other things that you think will make you happy but is not really what you wanted at first is synthetic happiness.

I used to believe that having the newest sneakers out there will make me happy, but is just like Dan Gilbert says it only was nice for the moment or the first weeks i wore them. But it wasn't always like that before i had them I had to beg my mother to buy me them and sometimes she wouldn't buy them for me instead she would buy something similar which also made happy, even though I wasn't getting what I really wanted it I still got something and that’s what mattered to me. I didn't have freedom to choose what I wanted instead she chose for me and this makes senses with what Gilbert said freedom is the enemy of Synthetic happiness.

Natural happiness is what we get when we get what we want it. My example on this would be when i get hungry. Sometimes when I get real hungry and i start craving something and I get it it makes me happy. Is something natural you know, you’re hungry and you get what you really wanted will make not just you but your stomach happy. Natural happiness just happens and you don’t really see it.
As a result of my experience in life and according to Dan Gilbert’s theories about happiness, I agree with his ideas. Everything that he says makes sense to if you put all pieces together and experience life and see the differences between synthetic and natural happiness. Buy yourself a new t.v plasma and see for how long it keeps you happy, these will let you see that having the most advance or expensive things in life might make you happy for a moment but it won’t last for so much longer like everyone expects it.
